Chapter 9 Discussion Board

Q As a state court judge, I always find it interesting to hear what others believe to be the role of the judiciary. Judges are sometimes described as “legislators in robes.” Do you believe this to be an accurate statement? Why or why not? Does your opinion change depending on whether the judge is serving at the state or federal level? How about Supreme Court Justices?

I do believe that the 'legislators in robes" is a true statement. The reason being is that judges that are appointed by either a governor or President, tend to follow along the same ideological thinking as their appointer. With President Trump, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals was a headache for him. If anyone had any argument that President Trump was doing something wrong or did not agree with him, a case would be filed with the 9th Circuit and it was pretty much a guarantee that they would vote against the President.
